VEGETABLES & FRUITS DRYING ATELIER

Syrian and Local women have been receiving TVET since February 2021 in vegetable and fruit drying based on a ecofriendly solar drying system. The women have also been receiving training on safe and healthy food production with hygienic packaging.

The drying of vegetables and fruit with solar energy was chosen as the activity type because the agricultural activity in the region is high; Şanlıurfa has the fourth largest agricultural area in Turkey and has 3000 hours of sun all year round. This means that the women can dry different kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables all year round in every season.

Vegetables and fruits are procured from local farmers and small businesses in the area. In order to reduce the carbon footprint in the production process, solar energy is used to dry the vegetables and fruits and reusable & recyclable packaging is used, using paper and glass instead of plastic packaging.
